Hellix is a mono-linear geometrical sans-serif font family. It was designed during an internship at the Type Design and Typography Studio at UMPRUM in Prague. At that time I fell in love with Paul Renner’s first sketch of Futura and I also explored stylistic sets, so I added a lot of strict and cold alternatives (“a, g, m, n, r, t, etc.”). I enjoyed having the possibility to create tensions between circular and square shapes. You will also find less geometrically based alternatives. In Hellix, circle forms are “punched” into the vertical stems and the terminals are diagonal. For further details please see the PDF specimen.
Hellix is mainly inspired by Futura (1924–1932 Paul Renner), Drescher Grotesk (2002 Arno Drescher, Nicolai Gogoll), Super Grotesk (1930, Arno Drescher) and Johnston (1915 Edward Johnston).
